Herdade da Almeida Velha in the Barragem do Caia (Caia Dam) in Alto Alentejo offers you a unique location with breathtaking views.

This property belongs and has been restored by a traditional Portuguese family over the past 25 years.

Located in North Alentejo and near the Spanish region Extremadura you can visit several historical towns that are UNESCO’s world heritage. Such as Elvas (15 minutes away),  Évora (45 minutes away), Mérida (60 minutes away) and Cáceres (80 minutes away).

Also close by we have the historical cities of Estremoz and Vila Viçosa with the Ducal Palace of The Braganzas.

For amazing views and typical Portuguese sightseeing we have also the small villages with castles like Marvão, Castelo de Vide, Monsaraz, Mourão etc.

The farm is located in a nature protection Area 1 for bird nesting and fish spawn. The land with and area of 70 hectares forms a peninsula with 3,5 km of waterfront and 1,5 hectares of garden around the house with trees, flowers, 1200 m² lawns and a tower over viewing a beautiful landscape with flag poles.

The infinity pool area has a fantastic view over the dam, it includes an exotic gazebo and a small pond with Japanese Koy Carps inside surrounded by granite rocks and Azinheiras (Quercus ilex) typical Alentejo's trees.

Over viewing the pool there is a “pateo” with a barbecue roof terrace that includes a kitchen and the pool bathhouses.

Extending the pool area we offer a 1000 m² ground platform sustained by granite high walls and inclusive toilets, overlooking the “barragem”, ready to receive any type of tent or infrastructure of your choice. This has an easy access for guests and also for suppliers sided by another 110 m² ground platform for staff services.
